Thoughts

I’m ambivalent about revision control. We use Subversion here and I like subversion. But the latest cool thing is this distributed revision control and so I tasked Justin (our resident Mercurial fan) to find a presentation that would give me and everyone else more information about DRCS.

The presentation is good and informative regarding Git, and somewhat for distributed systems in general. Afterward, I can begin to see why it might be useful in a large open source development effort, like Linux. I still have my primary complaint unanswered: it seems like more work and complexity for little benefit.

We are going to continue the discussion and hopefully I can understand the latest trend.
